https://journal.ua.ac.id/index.php/jsp/article/view/512

The pro-environment movement is one that is concerned with the environment. Within this movement, pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) serve as gathering places for young people known as santri (students). One issue faced by pesantren is their substantial contribution to waste. Therefore, environmentally-conscious pesantren have been established. Various issues arise from unhealthy environments; not only that, a healthy environment significantly impacts individuals, especially their emotions. If the environment is unclean, smelly, and dirty, the emotions that arise are typically negative. Hence, individuals must cultivate a mindset that promotes good behavior towards the environment and their surroundings. This study aims to uncover two aspects: First, the existence of the pro-environment movement at the UPT Jatian Waste Laboratory of Pondok Pesantren Annuqayah Lubangsa; second, the implications of the pro-environment movement at the UPT Jatian Waste Laboratory on the emotional management of santri at Pondok Pesantren Annuqayah Lubangsa. This is to understand the extent to which the pro-environment movement affects the emotional management of santri and to facilitate this goal, the researcher uses a case study method with two theories: Pro-Environmental Behavior Theory, which focuses on behavior aimed at environmental preservation, and Emotional Intelligence Theory, which detects the impact of the pro-environment movement. The study concludes that the pro-environment movement can be an alternative for creating environmentally-conscious pesantren and has the goal of raising santri awareness about the importance of environmental care. Several processes in environmental care include Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Consequently, santri become aware of the importance of environmental maintenance. The implementation of this movement involves several supporting and hindering factors. Hindering factors include resistance from santri who have not yet accepted the pro-environment movement, while supporting factors include santri who have accepted it and are able to manage and control their emotions, thereby increasing their creativity and enthusiasm to participate in pro-environment activities.
Qismatun Ni'mahTitin Nurhidayati

2025-03-022025-03-02411427Development Of Islamic Religious Education Curriculum Design At Miftahul Ulum School, Retok Village, Kubu Raya Regency
https://journal.ua.ac.id/index.php/jsp/article/view/1077

Islamic Religious Education (IRE) has a vital role in shaping students’ character and morals. Miftahul Ulum School in Retok Village, Kubu Raya Regency, as an Islamic-based institution, faces challenges in developing a curriculum that is both relevant to contemporary needs and rooted in Islamic values. This study aims to develop an innovative and contextual IRE curriculum design through an analysis of existing practices and stakeholder needs. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design and a constructivist paradigm. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with teachers, administrators, and parents, classroom observations, and document analysis. Data analysis followed the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, including data collection, reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. Triangulation was applied to ensure data validity. The findings indicate that the current IRE curriculum requires better integration between the national curriculum and pesantren traditions, the application of more interactive and experiential learning methods, and the development of comprehensive evaluation systems. Key gaps were found in the integration of spiritual practices, the use of technology in learning, and the assessment of affective and psychomotor domains. Based on these findings, this study proposes an integrated curriculum model consisting of three main components: integration of national and pesantren-based curricula, active learning methods such as project-based and collaborative learning, and competency-based evaluation covering cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects.
Syaiful SyaifulAbdurrahman Abdurrahman

2025-03-092025-03-0941284310.59005/jsp.v4i1.1077A Comparative Analysis of Pesantren and Formal School Curricula Based on Prevailing Government Regulations
https://journal.ua.ac.id/index.php/jsp/article/view/604

The curriculum serves as the cornerstone of the educational process, functioning as a guideline for learning implementation across all educational institutions. In the Indonesian context, pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) and formal schools possess distinct characteristics, yet both are officially recognized within the national education system. This study addresses the growing need to understand the similarities and differences between pesantren and formal school curricula as regulated by government policies, and explores how integration and synchronization can be achieved within the national education framework. This study analyzes the comparison between pesantren and formal school curricula based on existing government regulations, including Law No. 20 of 2003 on the National Education System, Government Regulation No. 55 of 2007 on Religious and Religious Education, and other curriculum implementation policies. A descriptive qualitative method with a document study approach was employed. The findings reveal that while similarities exist in basic curriculum structures such as competency achievement and learning assessment, significant differences emerge in educational goals, content, and pedagogical approaches. Pesantren emphasize religious dimensions and character development rooted in Islamic values, whereas formal schools orient more toward national competency standards. The study concludes that dialogue and curriculum integration are essential to building an equitable, adaptive, and socially responsive education system in Indonesia.
Cecep HiidayatHarun Annasir

2025-03-142025-03-14414459Adapting Islamic Legal Sources to Contemporary Challenges: The Role of Ijtihad and Fatwa in Modern Muslim Societies
https://journal.ua.ac.id/index.php/jsp/article/view/601

Classical Islamic legal sources — the Qur'an, Hadith, ijma', and qiyas — were codified in historical contexts vastly different from the realities confronting contemporary Muslim societies navigating technological disruption, globalization, and rapid social transformation. While these sources retain their foundational normative authority, their direct application to unprecedented modern challenges remains methodologically constrained, generating a persistent gap between classical legal tradition and contemporary Muslim life. This study aims to analyze the relevance of classical Islamic legal sources in modern Muslim societies and to construct an integrated framework positioning ijtihad and fatwa as complementary adaptive instruments for bridging this gap. Employing systematic library research, data were collected from classical jurisprudential texts and peer-reviewed contemporary scholarship, and analyzed through content analysis, thematic synthesis, and critical interpretation. The findings reveal that Islamic law's adaptive capacity is intrinsic to the tradition itself, and that ijtihad and fatwa function most effectively not as independent mechanisms but as sequential and mutually dependent stages within a coherent process of legal adaptation. The study concludes that strengthening collective ijtihad, enhancing inter-institutional fatwa coordination, and reconceiving Islamic legal education are essential prerequisites for ensuring Islamic law's continued relevance in an increasingly complex contemporary world.
Ayu Era WardhaniRahmawati RahmawatiNurul Badriya

2025-03-202025-03-20416073Managing Islamic Education in a Pluralist Context: The Bali Bina Insani Pesantren Model of Social Harmony in Hindu-Majority Bali
https://journal.ua.ac.id/index.php/jsp/article/view/459

Bali, as Indonesia's most prominent Hindu-majority province, presents a distinctive context for examining the management of Islamic educational institutions within a pluralist and religiously diverse society. Despite constituting a minority community, Muslims in Bali maintain pesantren institutions that serve not only as centers of Islamic learning but as active contributors to the cultivation of interfaith tolerance and social harmony. This study examines the management model of Bali Bina Insani Pesantren in building social harmony within Bali's multicultural society, organized around three research objectives: analyzing the institutional conditions of Bali Bina Insani Pesantren, examining the role of pesantren management in fostering harmony among religious communities, and identifying the strategies employed by the pesantren in cultivating religiously tolerant attitudes among its students and the surrounding community. A qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through direct field observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation at the research site. The findings reveal that Bali Bina Insani Pesantren has developed a distinctive management model that integrates Islamic educational values with a principled commitment to interfaith respect and multicultural coexistence, positioning the pesantren as a constructive social institution within Bali's pluralist landscape. These findings contribute to the theoretical understanding of pesantren management in non-Muslim majority contexts and offer practical insights for Islamic educational institutions operating within religiously diverse societies.
Nurul Uswatun KhasanahFadjrie Mahardika RistiantoM.
